ABOUT THE DISTRICT
The Kansas City Power & Light District is a vibrant, new eight-block neighborhood in the heart of downtown Kansas City that is redefining the City from its skyline to its sidewalks. The District links together the renovated Bartle Hall Convention Center, the new Sprint Center, offices, hotels, entertainment, cultural destinations and residential developments. The $850 million mixed-use District anchors $5 billion of complimentary development efforts in downtown Kansas City. The combination of entertainment, retail, nightlife and residential with the District's imaginative and innovative design, has created an intriguing 24/7 neighborhood.
The Kansas City Power & Light District features some of the country's premier operators such as Gordon Biersch Brewery, Mosaic Lounge, McFadden's Sports Saloon, Lucky Strike Lanes, Famous Dave's Barbecue, Jos. A. Bank, Raglan Road Irish Pub and Vinino Wine Bar & Bistro. Many great local establishments also have a home in the District, including Bristol Seafood Grill, The Peachtree Restaurant and ChefBurger. The many tastes, flavors and entertainment options of the District make each visit an enchanting experience. On the corner of Main and 13th Streets, downtown Kansas City's first grocery store, Cosentino's Downtown Gourmet Market, prepares to open in Fall 2008. Across the street from the market, the historic Midland Theatre transforms into a charming 3,000 capacity live music venue that will open its doors in late summer. Just down Main Street, the historic Mainstreet Theater, AMC's flagship arts movie theater, undergoes a significant revitalization before it opens its door in late fall. Live entertainment is a frequent happening in the District, especially in KC Live!
KC Live!
KC Live! is an entire city block of hot spots within the Kansas City Power & Light District. With two levels and fourteen (14) high energy entertainment, nightlife and dining establishments, it is sure to excite everyone in your group! Live entertainment is a frequent happening at the KC Live! Stage. Several concerts series and events are planned for KC Live! and the District. On May 29, the Hot Country Nights series will kick off 15 weeks of the newest, hottest country music every Thursday night. Rock the Block concert series begins Wednesday, June 4, and features 10 weeks of new, alternative rock groups every Wednesday. A Homegrown Music series begins Wednesday, August 6. KC Live! is located between Grand Boulevard and Walnut Street and 13th and 14th Streets.
The District is an evolving neighborhood and the Midwest's premiere entertainment destination. Visiting the District is truly an experience - and the District invites you to savor it all!

What is KC Live!? KC Live! is an entire city block of hot spots. Does the District have gift cards? At this time, the District does not offer a gift card that includes every establishment. Patrons may purchase KC Live gift cards, which can be used at McFadden's, Vinino, Angels Rock Bar, Mosaic Lounge, PBR Big Sky, Tengo Sed Cantina and Maker's Mark Bourbon House & Lounge. The events in KC Live! are outside right? Are they rain or shine? Yes, events held in KC Live! are outside and are rain or shine events. KC Live! is covered by a translucent canopy that lets light in but keeps the elements out!
Are concerts and other events in the District really free?!? You've heard it right! There a few events where there will be a small cover charge, but 90% of all the events held in the District are free and open to the public.
What does an arena liquor license mean? The Live! Block's arena liquor license allows guests to walk throughout the open-air Live! Block with their purchased beverages.
Does the District have a dress code? Yes - it is included in the District's Code of Conduct. The policy is clearly posted throughout the District. View the code of conduct.
What are the District's hours of operation? The Kansas City Power & Light District is an active neighborhood 24 hours a day. Most bars and restaurants are open until 3am. Please refer to an individual tenant's website for their hours of operation.
Can I valet my vehicle? Yes. There are currently three (3) valet locations in the District. Even more conveniently, you can drop your vehicle off and pick it up at any of the locations. Where do I park? The District and the City have multiple parking garages and surface lots within and surrounding the District. Please access more detailed parking information and a printable map under the Parking+Directions tab on the home page of this website.
What is the Kansas City Power & Light District? The Kansas City Power & Light District is Kansas City's newest, most exciting neighborhood development. Located in the heart of downtown, the District spans eight blocks of new restaurants, entertainment, nightlife and shopping. It is easily accessible from all major highways and will attract millions of visitors in its first year.
